Sacred Bone

                                                                               Sacrum

The word “sacrum” comes from the Latin os sacrum, meaning “sacred bone.”

The term reflects beliefs in ancient civilizations, especially among the Greeks and Romans, that this bone was holy or inviolable.

In ancient Greek, it was called hieron osteon (“holy bone”).
