Robertson Cooked Meat Medium
Robertson’s cooked meat medium (liver variant) is a modification of the standard RCM where liver tissue (usually ox/sheep liver) replaces the usual beef muscle.
What’s different about the liver medium?
- Uses cooked liver pieces instead of muscle

Liver is richer in:
- Iron
- Vitamins (especially B-complex)
- Growth factors
The liver version provides an even more supportive environment for fastidious anaerobes, particularly toxin-producing species like:
- Clostridium perfringens
- Clostridium botulinum
