                           First described by Dutch pathologist Joannes Cassianus Pompe 

 

 

 He reported a fatal case in an infant with:

• Massive heart enlargement (cardiomegaly)
• Muscle weakness

 

 

 

  

 

Current Events

 

International Pompe Disease Day is observed every year on April 15 to raise awareness about Pompe disease, a rare genetic disorder.
