Farnese Hermes

 

 
 
 
Farnese Hermes is a celebrated Roman marble statue of Hermes (Mercury), dating to the 1st century AD, and now in the British Museum. It is considered a Roman copy of a lost Greek original from the school of Praxiteles (4th century BC).

Hermes stands nude with a cloak draped over one shoulder. 
 
  • He wears winged sandals, identifying him as the messenger god.
