Mount Vesuvius Volcano Erupts Devastating Naples
The 1906 Mount Vesuvius eruption was a major April event, releasing the highest recorded volume of lava from the volcano and killing over 100 people. The violent eruption damaged the railway system, caused widespread structural collapse in nearby towns like Ottaviano, and forced the 1908 Summer Olympics to be moved from Rome to London.
