Pennyroyal Is Toxic 

Pennyroyal = Hepatotoxicity

Contains pulegone, a monoterpene ketone.

Pulegone is hepatotoxic and neurotoxic. 

Metabolized to menthofuran and other compounds that cause severe liver damage.

5 ml - 15 ml  Of Pennyroyal Oil  = HEPATIC NECROSIS 

SEVERE LIVER INJURY

Toxicology

• Extremely poisonous – even small amounts (5–15 mL of oil) can be fatal.

• Causes multi-organ failure, especially hepatic necrosis.

Symptoms of poisoning:

• Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.

• Dizziness, seizures, coma.

• Severe liver injury → jaundice, coagulopathy.

• Renal failure in severe cases.

• Uterine contractions, miscarriage (if pregnant).
