Luxol Fast Blue (LFB) was born from industrial dyes produced by DuPont in the 1940s.
Its application in histology was pioneered by Klüver and Barrera in 1953.
Over time, improved variants were developed, establishing LFB as a foundational stain for visualizing myelinated structures in the central nervous system.
