In 2008, Virgin Atlantic operated a biofuel demonstration flight from London to Amsterdam using a blend of sustainable biofuel and conventional jet fuel. This flight, a first for a commercial airline, involved a Boeing 747 with one engine running on a 20% biofuel blend
