Geographic Skull

Geographic skull = multiple punched-out lytic lesions in the skull vault, classically seen in multiple myeloma, resembling continents on a map.

The term “geographic skull” originated in the early 20th century with the advent of skull radiography, when physicians noticed map-like punched-out lesions in multiple myeloma. It became a standard radiological sign by mid-century and remains an important forensic/radiology teaching descriptor today.
