- The first electric traffic light
was installed on August 5, 1914, at the corner of Euclid Avenue
and East 105th Street.
- Invented by James Hoge.
- Features:
- Used red and green lights.
- Included an audible buzzer to
indicate the change of lights.
- Controlled manually from a nearby tower.
- This is the date many cities use to
commemorate Traffic Light Day.
