USA: National Scotch Day

 

US National Scotch Day is celebrated annually on July 27 in the United States to honor Scotch whisky, the iconic distilled spirit from Scotland that has captivated drinkers around the world for centuries.

Scotch is a malt or grain whisky made in Scotland, aged in oak barrels for at least three years. To be legally labeled as "Scotch," it must:

  • Be distilled and matured in Scotland

  • Contain only water and malted barley (or other grains for blends)

  • Be aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years

  • Have a minimum alcohol content of 40%
