Tsutsugamushi Disease

 Japanese researchers Dr. Hakuju Hashimoto and Dr. Rikuya Kono described the disease during outbreaks in rural Japan.

           The term “Tsutsugamushi disease” (Japanese: つつが虫病) was coined

                                 "Tsutsuga" = illness     "Mushi" = bug/insect
