International Moon Day

International Moon Day is celebrated every year on July 20 to commemorate humanity’s first successful landing on the Moon. This global observance marks the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the lunar surface in 1969.

Commemorates Apollo 11 (1969):

  • Neil Armstrong’s words: "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."

  • Demonstrated that space travel to other celestial bodies was possible.
