Dr Friedrich Best
1905: Best disease was first described by Friedrich
Best, a German ophthalmologist.
He reported a dominantly inherited macular dystrophy
characterized by a yellow, egg-yolk-like (vitelliform) lesion in the macula.
This lesion was often bilateral and associated with central
vision loss, typically in childhood or adolescence.
