It refers to the concentric, circular mucosal folds of the anal canal that may appear radially stretched or abraded, resembling the tread marks of a tyre.

Seen during medico-legal examination of a victim of anal intercourse (sodomy).
Features

Appearance: The radial rugosities/folds of the anus look “tyre-like.”

Cause: Repeated penetration causing stretching and friction of the anal folds.
