Hindi Diwas
On 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi (in the Devanagari script) as the official language of the Union of India.

The decision came into effect on 26 January 1950 when the Constitution was implemented.

To commemorate this, 14 September began being celebrated as Hindi Diwas from 1953 onwards.
