Trisomy 18
Trisomy 18, also called Edwards syndrome, is a genetic chromosomal disorder in which a person has three copies of chromosome 18 instead of two. It causes severe developmental problems and multiple congenital abnormalities.
Trisomy 18 was first described in 1960 by British geneticist John Hilton Edwards at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (while working in the U.S.).
