Albrecht von Haller (1708–1777) described several anatomical structures of the skull and sinuses during the 18th century.
Haller was one of the founders of modern anatomy and physiology and worked at the University of Göttingen, where he published important anatomical texts.
Haller Cells
Haller cells (infraorbital ethmoid cells) are:
-
Ethmoidal air cells located in the floor of the orbit
-
Situated along the roof of the maxillary sinus
-
Lateral to the infundibulum / ostiomeatal complex
They are considered a normal anatomical variation, not a disease.
