Arabian Nights

                                                               Arabian Nights

First Translator Of Arabian Nights

  •  In 1709–1717, Galland published a French translation of Arabian Nights.
  • During this translation project, he added several stories that were not present in earlier Arabic manuscripts, including:
    • Aladdin
    • Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves
    • Prince Ahmed and the Fairy Pari-Banu

Galland recorded the story after hearing it from a Syrian storyteller named Hanna Diyab in Paris around 1709.

The tale first appeared in Europe through the French Orientalist Antoine Galland
