Indocyanine Green
Indocyanine green was originally developed during World War II by researchers at Kodak laboratories as a cyanine dye for photography and infrared film imaging.
Photography To Biological Imaging
In 1957, physicians at the Mayo Clinic, especially Irwin J. Fox and Earl H. Wood, tested ICG in humans.
Indocyanine green
First used for indicator-dilution studies to measure cardiac output, showing that the dye stayed in blood vessels and cleared rapidly via the liver.
