Sperms And Creatine Kinase

Creatine Kinase aka Creatine Phosphokinase

CPK Isoenzymes

Creatine Kinase

Provides Rapid Regeneration Of ATP When ATP Is Low

Male Sperm

Components Of Sperm

Sperm Contains Creatine Kinase

Energy Supply:

  • Sperm require a large amount of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) for flagellar movement (swimming).

  • Creatine phosphokinase facilitates the reversible conversion of:

    Creatine + ATPPhosphocreatine + ADP
  • This reaction acts as an energy shuttle, helping maintain ATP levels in the sperm tail (flagellum).

  • CK is highly localized in the midpiece of the sperm, where mitochondria are concentrated.

  • This area is the powerhouse for sperm motility.

  • Fertility ResearchUsed as a biomarker in studies on male infertility, particularly in assessing sperm viability and energy dynamic.

  •              CREATINE KINASE =  SPERM MOTILITY
