Cyclone
Anticyclone
An anticyclone is a weather system characterized by high atmospheric pressure at its center, around which air circulates clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.
Key Features of an Anticyclone:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Pressure | High-pressure system |
| Air Movement | Air descends (subsides) at the center and moves outward |
| Winds | Clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, counterclockwise in the Southern |
| Weather | Generally brings clear skies and dry, stable weather |
| Cloud Formation | Suppressed due to descending air, which inhibits convection and condensation |
