World Mosquito Day

                               

British physician Sir Ronald Ross proved on August 20, 1897, that female Anopheles mosquitoes transmit malaria. 

By dissecting mosquitoes fed on infected patients, he discovered the parasite in their guts, earning the 1902 Nobel Prize in Medicine and establishing World Mosquito Day.
