Sjorgen Syndrome Day

 

                                                                       Henrik Sjorgen 

Dr. Henrik Sjögren was a Swedish ophthalmologist who published his landmark doctoral thesis on the systemic autoimmune condition now known as Sjögren's disease (formerly Sjögren's syndrome). His foundational work linked chronic dryness with systemic manifestations.

 

The Discovery: First inspired in 1929 after meeting a patient with dry eyes, dry mouth, and joint pain                                                                                                                                       

The Thesis: Published in 1933 under the title  "Zur Kenntnis der Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca", detailing 19 clinical cases.
