Blast From The Past: Grand Prix

 

The first official race to be designated a "Grand Prix" was the 1906 French Grand Prix, held on June 26–27, 1906, on a 105-kilometer closed public road circuit outside Le Mans, France. Organized by the Automobile Club of France, it was won by Hungarian driver Ferenc Szisz driving a Renault.
