Simon: The Zealot
Simon was called the Zealot, before his coming to Christ, because he was one of that particular sect or party among the Jews called Zealots, from a singular zeal they possessed for the honour of God and the purity of religion.
Simon's sign, also known as Simon's bleedings or Simon's hemorrhages, refers to hemorrhages in the intervertebral discs of the lumbar region. These hemorrhages are often considered a sign of vitality in cases of hanging where the body is fully suspended. They are typically found beneath the anterior longitudinal ligament in the intervertebral discs.
