Breslau's test is a forensic method used to determine if a baby was born alive.
Breslau's 2nd life test
The test involves examining the stomach and intestines for the presence of air. If the stomach and intestines float in water, it suggests the baby was born alive because air would have been present due to respiration. If they sink, it may indicate the baby was stillborn
- Double ligate the stomach and cut between two ligatures.
- Put stomach in water.
- Open the stomach inside the water.
- If air is present → Bubbles will form.
