Aegina Sea Turtle Coin

 Aegina is a rocky and mountainous island in the Saronic Gulf located about 25 miles southeast of Athens.


The Aegina sea turtle was one of the first coins minted by the Greeks and the  

                First coin to be used as an 

              International Trade Currency

The coin was issued by the island of Aegina, which was located near the trade routes of the eastern Mediterranean and had a prosperous economy.
