World Coconut Day

The coconut (Cocos nucifera) has one of the most fascinating histories among cultivated plants. Often called the “tree of life,” it has provided humans with food, drink, oil, fiber, timber, fuel, and materials for thousands of years.

Archaeological evidence indicates that coconuts were being used in South and Southeast Asia several thousand years ago. Ancient communities used almost every part of the plant.
