World Duchenne Awareness Day

French neurologist Guillaume-Benjamin-Amand Duchenne de Boulogne (1806–1875) presented his observations of a characteristic childhood muscular paralysis.

1868: Duchenne published a more detailed description, including the characteristic progressive muscle wasting, difficulty walking, and calf enlargement. The condition subsequently became known as Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
