Theophylline

Theophylline was first identified in 1888 by the German biochemist Albrecht Kossel, who isolated it from tea leaves. Its name comes from Thea sinensis (tea plant) and “phylline,” reflecting its chemical relationship to compounds found in plants such as caffeine and theobromine.
