Birth of the Sliding Filament Theory (1954)

The modern theory was established on 22 May 1954, when two landmark papers were published in Nature.

  2. Hugh E. Huxley and Jean Hanson

In 1957, Hugh E. Huxley provided electron microscopy evidence showing overlapping thick and thin filaments.
