Enlightenment: Reason/ Science/Humanism/Progress

Reason: Reason is non negotiable. One must always appeal to reason.

You appeal to reason when you have  evidence to confirm personal beliefs .

Science: Evidence to confirm personal beliefs needs empirical testing . Empirical testing provides possible explanation.

Human Wellbeing till date has only been measured with Reason and Science

1. Life Expectancy: Average Life Expectancy in 1700s used to be around 40 years.

Scientific reasoning with Vaccination/Sanitation/Anibiotics has increased the life expectancy to around 80 years in 2010.

2. Food: Througout history man was not able to grow enough food. 

Invention of fertilizers/ New mechanisms of agriculture (Green Revolution) changed the course of Food Scarcity. 

England was the first to grow enough calories to feed itself. England introduced Green revolution to the world. 

With Green Revolution percentage of undernourishment went down

3. Green Revolution led to Industrial Revolution  Industrial Revolution has caused a 75 % reduction in poverty over the last 30 years. International inequality is shrinking because of Industrial Revolution.

4: Industrial Revolution To Knowledge: In 15 th Century Europe 15 % were able to read and write. Educataion was reserved for the wealthy.

 In todays world 80 % can read and write.

5. Getting Smarter has its own benefits in the areas of Peace/Freedom/Rights/Child Labor/Violent Crime/Safety/Rape and Domestic Violence/Occupational Deaths/Environment

With Reason and Science the World has seen tremendous Human progress over the last 70 years. 

Reason and Science has led to Humanism and Progress

Humanism:Applying knowledge and sympathy to enhance lives. Humanism is the conquest of disease, famine, poverty.

Progress: With humanism world has progressed in leaps and bounds. Knowledge (Reason+Science) gained by man has been used through out to solve Worlds past and current crisis. Knowledge alone has enhanced human lives.
