Galantamine From Snowflakes

Snowflakes: Folklore medicine for Pain Relief

These flowers were originally used in folk medicine where they grew naturally (Southeast Europe and Southwest Asia) to treat headaches by rubbing them on one's head; this was first noticed when a 1950s Bulgarian Pharmacologist came across natives who did this to treat pain. This is what gave Galantamine the jumpstart into the scientific world. Since the mid 1950s, Galantamine has been known to act as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor,

It was totally chemically synthesized and patented under the supervision of Ulrich Jordis at the Vienna Technical University in 1994
