Mythology (Stories): They explain the world and other human experiences. Religions takes a firm ground with mythology in it.

Myths: Myths are derived from mythology. I have been told a lot about Black Cats and the Evil associated in it. Lines like never to cross the road when a cat crosses your path was common. It may have precedence as it is derived from Mythology (Stories told from generation to generation).

With new facts that have been developed with science over the course of time such thinking has become obsolete.

Construction of Mythology is derived solely from HUMAN OBSERVATION.

Mythology is nothing but man trying to understand nature. Stories have been derived as man has tried doing it.

So far Man has tried understanding Mythology in 4 areas

Metaphysical: (Metaphysics) Religion to explain the role of Gods in everyday life. Give meaning and purpose to life. The most important of all is Guidelines to live life which is the bedrock of all civilizations in order to thrive and sustain.

Sociological: (Sociology) Maintain Order.

Cosmological: (Astronomy) To understand Universe.

Psychological: (Psychology) Key points in our life.

All these taken into account boils down to Acceptable Human Behavior.

With all of this one can try to understand the world.

I feel one should not take word of mouth as it is. Critical thinking is also necessary with the laid guidelines to make it through an infinity of uncertain events that is not listed in texts.

Critical thinking is necessary to explain the unexplainable.

Theories Derived From The Study Of Mythology

Nature Of Mythology:

Myths Justifying Cultures Activities

One can safely say that it is not the case anymore and we have evolved to a greater  universal thinking.

Still we take Gods in our LIFE seriously as there is a lot to know.

GODS KNOWN TO MAN OVER THE COURSE OF TIME CAN BE SUMMED UP AS
ADONIS

SAME MAN KNOW IN DIFFERENT REGIONS

Apart from Gods ADONIS IS URBAN SLANG
