Charles Robert Darwin (1809–1882) was an English naturalist and biologist whose work fundamentally changed our understanding of life on Earth. His observations during the voyage of HMS Beagle (1831–1836), especially in the Galápagos Islands, shaped the foundations of evolutionary biology.
