Lingo (Foreign) Berry Saauce 



YIELD: ABOUT 2 1/2 CUPS

Lingonberry Sauce

Lingonberry Sauce for your Swedish Meatballs: simple decadence at its best!
PREP TIME15 minutes
INACTIVE TIME1 hour
TOTAL TIME1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh or frozen lingonberries
  • 3/4 cup unrefined cane sugar or light-flavored honey
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer until lingonberries burst, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool completely at room temperature and then chill in refrigerator. Lingonberry sauce will thicken as it cools.
