Story behind the cake

Honey and Empress Elizabeth

 Medovik, according to mysterious circumstances, is considered to be a Russian national cake.

Briefly, Empress Elizaveta Alekseevna did not tolerate honey in any form. Inhabitants of the kitchen of the Winter palace in St.Petersburg knew about this and did not use any honey at all.

 However, some young scullion, accidentally arrived in the kitchen and was not in the course of local problems. He prepared a cake based on honey cakes and send it for the Empress.

 And then a miracle happened! Elizaveta Alexeevna did not order to send a young chef away but instead beamed and demanded an addition.

  Medovik cake has become the exclusive dessert by inheritance
